About Eastport Health Care, Inc.

Vision Statement

EHC's vision is to meet a full spectrum of health needs in rural Maine with innovative, affordable treatment. Leading through listening, learning through partnership, and serving through collaboration makes us agents of change for better health outcomes in Washington County.

CEO's Message

Ellen Krajewski, MPH, CEO

The more things change, the more they stay the same. In the last few years, change has been nearly constant, and true to form, much has stayed the same, including our goal of providing quality care. No matter that a global pandemic is changing life –including health care- as we know it. We've continued offering quality primary care, behavioral health care, and dental care to our patients, safely and effectively, while facing many challenges.

EHC staff brought this vision closer to reality by stepping up and meeting critical pandemic needs: COVID-19 education and training, testing, vaccination, and treatment. We collaborated with many individuals and organizations who shared our commitment to keep all Washington County residents safe. This process has forged new relationships with community partners and cemented established ones. During the darkest days of the pandemic, EHC kept focused on our purpose. Our own patients and staff inspired and motivated us. You know who you are. Others who share EHC's deep commitment to our patients and communities also inspired and motivated us. So many worked tirelessly to serve and I could not be more proud of what we accomplished together.

Resilience. It is the ability to cope with and recover from setbacks. It is remaining calm in the face of difficulty. Those with resilience are able to use their skills and strengths to respond to life's challenges. EHC works hard to support resilience, even as we face situations daily that threaten it. EHC is working to create a healthy environment for staff and patients that promotes resilience, even as we deal with nearly constant stressors both at work and outside of work. This means not giving up and keeping our purpose in view.

EHC is evolving, growing, changing, all for the better, and it is our unchangeable patient care focus that is at the core of our work. The opportunities to serve Washington County residents in these changing times are many. The EHC Board of Directors and staff are courageously stepping up to this call for action. The time is now. Our patients, our children, our communities, and our future are too important.

To all who have trusted us, worked with us, and believed in us, I thank you. Together, we're getting it right.
